There is something to be said for all black outfits. The look has been around forever. It’s always a safe landing pad for when you just can’t get your creativity in gear. It always matches. And so on…and so on. This look for example is so chic it screams elegance. But wait…that Zana Bayne choker is sold out (temporarily we hope). Let’s try this instead…

maroon mood…

I have always loved monochromatic looks. It is so easy to put together and is always an instant hit. Too often this applies to all black – but why not play with other colours… This season in particular maroon is a very hot colour. Here Arielle of gets it soooo right.

pink ladies…

Pink is being worn in a whole new way this season. Head-to-toe in the way of a suit or dress or coat or simply a sweater over a skirt or pants. The palest of shades is the way to go. The overall effect is stunning. Pink has always been one of my favourite colours. It instantly adds a chic flair to the everyday…

camel coat…

3c4de8c306e8cd26b5dc32ae4a4e668cI have always been a big fan of camel coats. I love that I can pretty much throw them over any outfit and always look well put together. You know what I mean? A camel coat just does that for me. This year there is the suede overcoat that is trending but a good wool camel coat is always in fashion and a solid investment if you are like me and don’t mind spending a little extra on a piece I will keep and wear for years to come.

Whenever I feel uninspired by what  my closet holds I go back to the all-time classic…the never-fail combo of black and white. It never falls out of fashion and has seen me through some rough mornings. This year I am loving the skinny black tie worn with a loose shirt worn under a vest. It makes for s very chic and sophisticated look that really is hard to get wrong. And…the best thing about it is that you don’t have to spend a fortune. Any skinny long piece of fabric will do really, we all have a silky white blouse somewhere, and it looks fantastic over any loose fitting pair of pants or black skirt. Oh joy!!
