spring trend…boots?

Boots may not seem like a spring-y thing to wear but the knee high leather variety are showing up on the streets everywhere. Fittingly when it’s freezing outside…thank you Louis Vuitton (spring 2015 runway)!!

Above-the-knee styles have been around for a while, however, this season’s boot is high heeled and knee-high. Not to be confused. And the trend here is to wear them with either a to-the-knee (or just below) skirt or dress. Soft flowing dresses or pencil skirts are perfect. These Via Spiga or Sergio Rossi or these at shoeme are all worth checking out.

the non mom lob (a.k.a. bob)…

After a couple years of growing out my very short pixie I cut it all off again. Yup. But oddly, although it’s pretty short again… it feels long. I went with the new cut that’s been dubbed lob or non-mom-bob. Yeah, so basically a short bob. I love it and think it is probably the best cut I’ve had in a long time. It’s long enough that I can still pin up and curl…but short enough that I don’t have to fuss with too much. I love it.

layering…

This is a perfect example of monochromatic layering at its best, using different textures and weights while keeping it as simple as possible. I love the long knit cardigan worn tied around the shoulders. Everything about this look is easy.  Over-sized, wearable, and so easy to find the pieces to make it work for you…

teddy coat…

The Teddy coat has been around for about a year. Max Mara showed it last year on the runway and Alexa Chung sported hers last December. But it’s still a hot trend. It’s fuzzy and big – two things that are conducive to staying warm. And…I for one am getting one. I like this one from warehouse or this white one from Topshop. Also loving these from John Lewis and House of Fraser.

oxfords…

The reason I love oxfords so much is that I always feel like they fit with almost any outfit I’m wearing. Seriously…they’re great under the simplest of outfits (as above), terrific under a boyfriend jean, and so chic under a flowy summer dress. Tighter fitting knit dress… wonderful! Loose fitting cropped pants…sublime! The list really goes on and on. I love these by Stuart Weitzmanthese classic fringed and buckled pair at Tod’s, or these tasselled ones by Nine West.
