layering…

This is a perfect example of monochromatic layering at its best, using different textures and weights while keeping it as simple as possible. I love the long knit cardigan worn tied around the shoulders. Everything about this look is easy.  Over-sized, wearable, and so easy to find the pieces to make it work for you…

Caramelized Sweet Potato and Kale Fried Wild Rice Salad sounds like a lot to think about. Everything about this salad makes me want to make it and eat a hearty plate of it. I love big salads, especially in winter…so this is what’s up for dinner tonight.

seeing red…

By the end of January I’ve usually had enough of winter. That’s when I look to brighten up my everyday grey and black with some colour. I’m seeing a lot of this red and am thrilled because red happens to be my favourite ‘pick-me-up’ colour. I’m especially excited about the cape style and faux fur reds!! This faux fur from Nasty Gal or this Outnet jacket are trendy and affordable – since we are talking about a trend. This cape style at Yoox is also on my list.

the thing about style…

What I love about style is that we all own it. We all have our personal take on it and it’s all good. It transcends trends, money, and above all age. I know and have known people whose style and grace will never fade, even after they’re gone…My nonna Teresa was one of them. At 101 just before she died, she would still get her hair done and take the time to look good everyday. She didn’t do it for anyone but herself. She loved how she looked and wasn’t shy about it. This photo reminds me of her. Hair always perfect, jewellery on, outfit just right…she was a rock star <3

grey coat…

I love the look of classics. A simple grey coat belted with a skinny black belt. Twisted not tied. Add a neck scarf and punch it up with a hit of color in your handbag. What is more simple? Copy the look…acne studios coat unbuttoned, wrapped and belted.
